I have reached 24 weeks (6 months!). We are almost to the 3rd trimester. So far, being pregnant is not the most fun I have had. I am definitely looking forward to July.
Baby girl is now the size of a Mr. Potato Head (approximately 12 inches long and 1.3 lbs). Over the weekend I felt her kick on the outside. Luckily Steven was nearby and able to feel some of the kicking too. So now everyday we get to check in that she is moving. We have 2 more weeks until the lungs are developed enough to support life outside my body should we run into complications. Weird the things one in the medical field thinks about. Tomorrow is the ECHO to verify that her heart has fully developed and we don't find any surprises on her birth day. I'll post a quick update on that, not the full article.
I have gotten the heart burn and insomnia under control for the most part. Some nights I require peppermint tea for dinner, but I definitely need to avoid red meat and eat WAY less dairy. I have also found Dr. D's probiotic drinks (tart cherry or ginger). They are made with water kefir so less risk than kombucha and no dairy as in regular kefir. Daily stretching seems to be critical to low back and neck pain management. I'm thankful for the free Novant Pregnancy Yoga classes.
I'm blessed to have several friends also pregnant to check in with on the weird things we don't want to say publicly. The first had her baby girl earlier this month. She labored mostly at home, went to the hospital for about 6 hours before pushing for 20ish minutes. ON HER FIRST BABY! Most moms reading this know that this is a practically perfect birth story. The rest of us wanted to know her secrets. So red raspberry leaf tea (iced) with pineapple juice for sweetner, dates (or the smoothie king date smoothie) and stretching were the take aways. I've started all of these, but they will become daily routine at 30 weeks. Any other old wives tales I should consider?
Also, if you still have my 414 number know I am not ignoring you. My number changed to an 803.
