We had a great appointment today with the OB. It was very cool to see our baby girl hiccup and move. Her heartbeat is 167 beats per minute and all the landmarks looked good. I really like my OB as he gave me options and didn't jump right in for the extra bloodwork.
I thought I felt baby girl moving last week. I had eaten a good meal and was resting after. Then there was a wiggle feeling in my lower tummy. It was definitely not the gas or intestine upset feeling and it was right about where my uterus is. Either way it was exciting and I look forward to feeling more baby movement as she grows.
The less exciting part is weight gain. I'm sure this is a challenge for many moms, especially when weight has been an issue in the past. I'm eating good foods (most of the time!) and not overeating. So if it takes an extra 10 pounds as the baby grows and is healthy then it is all worth it! It's crazy that with pregnancy the amniotic fluid can be 2-3 pounds, increased blood volume 2-3 pounds and uterus size 2-3 pounds. Plus the size of the baby and extra calories for breastfeeding!
This is simply a cool journey and one I have been excited for since I started delivering my sister's babies on the front porch at 10 years old. (We played doctor and they safely birthed healthy baby dolls). Enjoy the announcement video and feel free to share it.
