There are many unexpected decisions to make with IVF. Some of them come with timelines as short as 30 minutes, others you can discuss over several days with your partner. This post will be longer as I dive into some of the questions we have been asked and what we ultimately decided.
For those wanting a quick update- I am struggling with headaches and tears. Dr. Kim advised giving my body 45 days to reset and prepare for pregnancy. My fertility nurse then suggested waiting until September. I used a due date calculator...that would put baby arriving on High School graduation. After 24 hours of panic, Steven and I decided to wait until October for the transfer. (Then formal baby announcement will be a Christmas gift!) Steven wisely said "it seems important that your body and mind are fully focused on carrying our baby before we transfer." Honestly, I am just not there yet. I want to tidy up some loose ends and declutter and create some space for this part of the journey. Plus, if the change from cycles 1 and 2 compared to cycles 4 and 5 taught us anything it is that patience is powerful in the IVF journey.
Alright so I am going to list the questions here so I can see them. And then answer them in a separate post.
IVF or see what happens?
IVF now or when?
Genetic test or no genetic test?
Embryos - Freeze or grow?
Transfer - 1 or 2?
Transfer - now or later?
I am sure there are more, but these are the ones on top of mind.
