I posted a few times as post updates so if you didn't get notified, don't worry, you haven't missed much. I have been on testosterone cream for 10 days now. Teenage boys don't get enough credit for how much this hormone messes with sleep. While I am on a very high dose, I can apply the cream at the same time each day which helps me find a rhythm. Teenage boys get testosterone dumped into their system at any hour. Their inability to get out of bed before 9 AM is not lazy or defiant as it is unlikely they chose to stay up all night.
Sleep for me has been one of two scenarios. Scenario 1 - I work hard and am really tired. In bed and asleep by 10 PM. Then wide awake from 2:30-3:30 or 4 AM and unable to get out of bed at 6:30. Scenario 2 - I pace my energy throughout the day. I am wide awake until almost midnight then want to sleep until 9 AM. Oh and testosterone also seems to mess with appetite- I should be hungry right now, but really don't have an appetite. In about 30 minutes I will be ravenous.
Lack of posts this far have been for a few reasons.
a- I have been sneaking up to the mountains where I don't have internet
b- Deadlines are approaching for the estate work we have been navigating
c- I am seeing a few more patients than ideal, however, am hiring a PTA starting in July and will be training her between the egg retrieval and transfer.
d- Honestly, this is a big one, I have found books. I was a voracious reader as a kid. PT school brought the mentality "If I have time to read, I should study." In April, I started "Carolina Belle" by Rose Senehi. Since I have read "Pelican Watch" by Rose Senehi; "The Peach Keeper" by Sarah Addison Allen; and "Where the River Ends" by Charles Martin. I can actually recommend all of them. My adult brain says wait to buy the next one (I like to keep a library). My engaged reader says buy everything ever written by the 3 authors!
My next IVF appointment is Wednesday for blood work. I expect they will start me on the estrogen twice a day. My energy levels will quickly drop. I have 1 week planned out of the office (June 19-24) and then July 1-7. My egg retrieval should fall during the July 1-7 window.
