Technically, day 1 of a cycle is day 1 of the period that starts the IVF cycle. The cycle ends with an egg retrieval. In the previous cycles, I started medications of some sort on Day 2. Usually accompanied by major headaches on Day 3. For my 4th cycle, it is day 8 (I think) and I started Testosterone this morning. They prescribed a testosterone cream that dispenses like deodorant. 3 clicks of cream on the left forearm and 3 on the right. I am terrible at counting- so I think I got it right this morning. Being a topical application the medication can transfer to family or pets. I think it is dry now, to be safe I'll wear long sleeves. It will be interesting to see how I do with this.
My medication plan has me on the testosterone for about 3 weeks. My next lab work appointment is 3/24. As long as my body responds the way they want to the testosterone, I will start estrogen pills. As with many aspects of life- it's a hurry up and wait. So far IVF has taught me that going with the flow and allowing my body to respond to the process is the best way. A very different approach from my first cycle when I didn't know how to adjust the office schedule to accomodate my appointments and I tried to make my body fit the schedule rather than change the work schedule for my body.
