Last week while trying to figure out how to help my egg quality my husband recommended I take time off of work. Well, I am a work-a-holic. My schedule doesn't have an opening until April. My husband and I have been putting a full 5 day office into 3 longer days since August 2022. This has been necessary since my father in law passed. We work 3 days in our clinic, then 3 days on the other businesses. Bottom line stress is a factor in my fertility journey.
I resisted the idea of a medical leave, I enjoy my work. Then we worked Friday. I saw 2 patients and was exhausted. We worked Friday as we had to move our Tuesday patients to Friday. My procedure was Tuesday. I rested Wednesday and Thursday. Working Friday 10:30-5:30 with 8 patients was exhausting. Now it's Sunday. I slept over 9 hours last night and took a nap. I really believe this medical leave from the office is needed. I am not recovering like I used to recover.
I will not be seeing patients March 13th-24th. If you are a patient with an appointment during this time I will be contacting you this week to reschedule. Dr. Steve is available during this time, I have several massage therapists I trust and I will extend hours the weeks of March 6th and 27th. Your understanding is appreciated!
I will likely also take time off in April- May-June to facilitate success with my remaining IVF cycles. We are blessed that I can take this time off of work. I shared with a friend yesterday how much I enjoy supporting others and now this is time for me to lean on our support system. During my time away from patient care I will share more of the psychological factors that I am confronting in making this choice.
